Kastrouni’s doctoral research investigates the limitations of existing approaches to urban regeneration through urban design to sustainable and fair urban futures.
She is interested in how to meaningfully incorporate people of intersectional characteristics into the decision-making processes of urban design and planning, focusing on the socioeconomic spatialities and challenges of post-crisis Athens, Greece.
She is exploring methodological approaches that include digital tools for urban futuring, like digital ethnography and crowdsourcing web-based urban platforms.
