(Re)building Social Infrastructure in Left-behind Places

Additional Team Members - Prof John TomaneyDr Lucy Natarajan, Dr Florence Sutcliffe-Braithwite, and Dr Maeve Blackman

The project proposes developing a novel approach to assessing the infrastructure needs of left-behind communities. It builds upon and extends the findings of recent research projects and deepens existing relationships between UCL and partners in County Durham, in the context of the challenges faced by ‘left-behind’ places, the ‘levelling-up’ policy agenda, and the geographically uneven health and economic costs of Covid19, and by drawing on opportunities to share knowledge and experience with communities in the local context.
